Type: evergreen perennial
- Expanded base allows for water storage, suitable for sandy soil.
- Not a true palm. Named ponytail palm for it’s strap-like leaves that droop down from the top of the plant.
- Produces clusters of flowers (see picture). These flowers can become very large, although are rarely seen in captivity.
